Clay Ripener second monitoring campaign

Clay Ripener monitoring campaign 3
Clay Ripener team carrying out monitoring

In September last the Clay Ripener team carried out the second monitoring campaign. The formerly fluid sediment has turned to clay and the crust is now thick enough to walk on. Cracks in the crust are up to 40 cm deep. Rain water accumulates in it and slowly seeps through the clay, washing out the salt. A variety of plants grows on the clay. Clay samples will be studied in the lab and checked on the amount of salt and organic matter. Later this year results will be available.
