{"id":4977,"date":"2020-06-05T13:57:16","date_gmt":"2020-06-05T11:57:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ecoshape.org\/en\/?post_type=project&#038;p=4977"},"modified":"2020-09-07T14:23:47","modified_gmt":"2020-09-07T12:23:47","slug":"lessons-learned","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/www.ecoshape.org\/en\/cases\/adaptive-monitoring-of-sand-extraction-areas-maasvlakte-2-extension-nl\/lessons-learned\/","title":{"rendered":"Lessons Learned"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The MV2 monitoring program is a good example on how to meet the monitoring requirements as set by the authorities without unnecessary monitoring efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Evaluation of the MV2 monitoring program with regard to adaptive monitoring showed that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Based on a thorough motivation, the initiating stakeholder was allowed by the authorities to deviate from the permit requirements in the monitoring program of MV2.<\/li><li>The extensive monitoring program of MV2 already included several adaptive strategies. The adaptations were, however, related to the monitoring itself, rather than the execution of extraction work.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applying the Frame of Reference (see <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ecoshape.org\/en\/tools\/frame-of-reference-for-specialist-and-end-user-interaction\/\" target=\"_blank\">Frame of Reference tool<\/a>) to the MV2 monitoring program showed that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Almost all elements of the &#8216;basic&#8217; frame of reference can be found in the monitoring program of MV2, leading to a successful and coherent approach. The desired state is included for each element and, in combination with the evaluation procedure, enables adaptive monitoring.<\/li><li>The main \u2018white spot\u2019 is the lack of an intervention procedure which specifies what can be done to bring the system into a desired state.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The MV2 monitoring program is a good example on how to meet the monitoring requirements as set by the authorities without unnecessary monitoring efforts.
