Sinds de bouw van de stormvloedkering in 1985 is hier geleidelijk het evenwicht tussen sedimentatie en erosie verstoord geraakt.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aanpak<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2008 is een experiment uitgevoerd waarbij in een gebied van ongeveer 20 hectare op de Galgeplaat zo\u2019n 130.000 kuub zand is opgespoten. Daarbij zijn nieuwe methoden gebruikt om de vertroebeling van het water tijdens het baggeren en depositie te verminderen. Het idee was dat de wind en golven het zand langzaam zouden verspreiden zodat de omliggende ecosystemen zo min mogelijk werden verstoord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ontwerp<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Het zand is aangebracht in een cirkel op de Galgeplaat. Hiervoor is een cirkelvormige dijk van zand aangelegd van ongeveer 1 m hoog met een diameter van 450 meter. Deze ring werd ten tijde van de vloedfase gevuld met zand en ten tijde van de ebfase verspreid door bulldozers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Resultaat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Door de toegepaste werkmethode kon het zand gecontroleerd worden aangebracht en werd vertroebeling voorkomen. Nadelige effecten voor nabijgelegen mosselbanken werden daarmee voorkomen. In de praktijk is het grootste deel van het zand inderdaad op zijn plaats gebleven en het bodemleven is inmiddels grotendeels hersteld.<\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"link-list-block_20200609115456\"
