Het programma werd in 2013 afgetrapt en liep tot 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het onderzoek richtte zich op de Zandmotor, een kunstmatig, haakvormig schiereiland vlakbij Den Haag. Vlak na aanleg stak de Zandmotor 1 km de zee in en ongeveer 2 km lang langs de kust. De Zandmotor is gerealiseerd door het Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Milieu en de Provincie Zuid-Holland aan de kust in de buurt van Ter Heijde in 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Doel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>De kennisontwikkeling binnen NatureCoast richtte zich op zes verschillende disciplines: kustveiligheid, duinvorming, mariene ecologie, terrestrische ecologie en bestuurskunde. Elke discipline werd onderzocht door twee PhD\u2019s van verschillende universiteiten. De postdocs waren verantwoordelijk voor integratie tussen de zes wetenschapsprojecten, het vergaren van interdisciplinaire kennis over de Zandmotor. Met behulp van de verzamelde kennis onderzoeken de postdocs de wereldwijde uitvoerbaarheid van een dergelijk Bouwen-met-de-Natuur-concept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aanpak<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Het programma bestond uit zes wetenschappelijke onderzoeksprogramma\u2019s (\u201cS1-6\u201d; zie tabel). Elk van de zes onderzoeksprojecten keek vanuit een andere discipline naar de Zandmotor (van kustveiligheid tot governance) en onderzoekt verschillende aspecten. Elk project werd door twee samenwerkende PhD\u2019s uitgevoerd. De onderwerpen per PhD-project zijn in de onderstaande tabel samengevat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ecoshape.org\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/02\/naturecoast10.jpg\" alt=\"NatureCoast 6\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Een integratieproject &#8211; uitgevoerd door drie postdocs &#8211; richtte zich op het samenbrengen van de kennis die in de wetenschappelijke projecten vergaard is. Elke postdoc behandelde een andere interdisciplinaire wetenschappelijke uitdaging. Bovendien vormden de postdocs het grensvlak tussen de eindgebruikers en de PhD\u2019s.
