Hiervoor graven zij een deel van het stabiele zandpakket af. Met intensieve metingen van het resterende deel van de proefsectie verwachten de onderzoekers beter inzicht te krijgen in de ontwikkeling van het zandpakket. Toekomstige zandige versterkingen kunnen hierdoor nauwkeuriger worden ontworpen.
