Het belang van de aanvoer van extra slib ten opzichte van de herverdeling van lokaal slib is minder groot dan verwacht. Een toename van de sedimentdynamiek door de Slibmotor kon niet met zekerheid worden vastgesteld. Bij het evalueren van de resultaten van de Slibmotor concludeert het team dat de hydrodynamische invloed van golven en stroming op erosie groter is dan van tevoren voorzien. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ook biotische processen spelen een rol bij kwelderuitbreiding. Experimenten waarbij zeekraalzaad werd uitgestrooid v\u00f3\u00f3r de kwelderrand toonden aan dat de hoogte en overstromingsduur van de kwelder geschikt waren voor vegetatieontwikkeling en dus voor kwelderuitbreiding. De belangrijkste beperking voor de natuurlijke vestiging van vegetatie in de overgangszone tussen kwelder en wad bleek de beschikbaarheid van levensvatbare zeekraalzaden.
