EcoShape-onderzoeker Marinka van Puijenbroek vertelt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marinka: \u2018We hebben de sedimentatie en erosie gemeten, de vegetatiebedekking en de bedekking van groene algen, (diatomee\u00ebn en cyanobacteri\u00ebn). Vegetatie en algen maken de bodem stabieler, houden het sediment vast en voorkomen daarmee erosie. Ook hebben we de hoogteligging met een LIDAR-drone gemeten.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ecoshape.org\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/10\/eerste-waarnemingen-op-de-pionierkwelder-bij-delfzijl-2.jpg\" alt=\"Eerste waarnemingen op de pionierkwelder bij Delfzijl 1\"\/><figcaption><strong>Foto: overzichtsfoto van de pionierkwelder vanuit de lucht <\/strong><br><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Er is heel veel vegetatie opgekomen in de vakken waar klei door het zand is gemengd. In de meest zandige vakken met maar 5% klei is nauwelijks iets opgekomen, terwijl veel verschillende plantensoorten zich al hebben gevestigd in de vakken met een hoger percentage klei.<br>\nIn mei hebben we delen van de kwelder ingezaaid met de zogenoemde langarige zeekraal en die is overal mooi opgekomen. Deze is ook mooi opgekomen in de delen met weinig klei (5%) en het contrast met de niet ingezaaide delen is dan ook heel erg groot.<br>\nVerder viel mij de algenbedekking op. In de vakken met veel klei vormen de algen een hogere bedekking wat de bodem vasthoudt en erosie tegengaat.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"gallery-slider-block_20200608121825\" De belangrijkste zijn de langarige en de kortarige zeekraal. De langarige is door ons ingezaaid, de kortarige niet. Beide doen ze het goed, al lijkt de ingezaaide zeekraal het meest in lagere en nattere delen voor te komen.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ecoshape.org\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/10\/eerste-waarnemingen-op-de-pionierkwelder-bij-delfzijl-3-e1571660298579.jpg\" alt=\"Eerste waarnemingen op de pionierkwelder bij Delfzijl 2\"\/><figcaption><strong>Langarige en kortarige zeekraal <\/strong><br>De groene planten zijn de ingezaaide zeekraal (langarig) terwijl de uit zichzelf gevestigde kortarige zeekraal rood\/geel kleurt. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;Daarnaast zijn er ook nog verschillende plantensoorten die normaal pas later in de ontwikkeling van de kwelder (successie) voorkomen, bijvoorbeeld bloeiende zulte (zie foto). Dat geeft aan dat de vegetatie van de kwelder zich waarschijnlijk snel zal gaan ontwikkelen.  <\/p>\n<p>We onderzoeken nu de \u2018zadenbank\u2019 die in de kwelder zelf aanwezig is, door monsters te nemen op 20 cm diepte op de kwelder en te vergelijken met nieuwe zaden in de toplaag die het afgelopen jaar zijn aangespoeld. Deze data wordt nu geanalyseerd door een student.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De volgende meting is in november.
