Het estuarium is een uniek natuurgebied dat de overgang vormt van de rivier de Eems naar de Waddenzee. Door klimaatverandering en het medegebruik door scheepvaart en een aantal belangrijke industriegebieden, staat dit natuurgebied onder druk. Voor 2050 is als doel gesteld om het estuarium ecologisch gezond, robuust en veerkrachtig te krijgen. Innovatieve oplossingen, die ge\u00efnspireerd zijn op werken met \u00e9n voor de natuur, zijn hiervoor heel geschikt. In de vorm van pilots kan worden ge\u00ebxperimenteerd met verschillende oplossingsrichtingen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Royal HaskoningDHV is betrokken bij een aantal van deze pilots. Een lopende pilot is de proefkwelder Marconi in Delfzijl. Een samenwerking tussen de gemeente Delfzijl, kennisconsortium EcoShape en EcoShape partners Royal HaskoningDHV, Wageningen Marine Research, Arcadis en Deltares. Sinds 2019 werkt Royal HaskoningDHV ook aan het project buitendijkse slibsedimentatie Eems-Dollard. Hierbij is via een MIRT-traject een ontwerp opgesteld voor een grootschalige pilot in de Dollard, gericht op slibsedimentatie, verbetering van de ecologische kwaliteit en, heel belangrijk, kennisvergaring. Op deze manier draagt de pilot bij aan duurzaam beheer van het estuarium.<\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"gallery-slider-block_5f86c178dbefd\" class=\"block-gallery-slider-inner \">\n\n            <div past Royal HaskoningDHV ook toe in andere projecten wereldwijd. Er zijn onder andere ontwerpvoorstellen voor mangroveparken gemaakt, kunstmatige tropisch zusjes van de Nederlandse kwelderprojecten. Ook zorgt het werken via een nature-based aanpak voor handvatten om wereldwijd projecten uit te voeren die tot doel hebben de effecten van klimaatverandering het hoofd te bieden.
