Webinar: NbS Quality for Impact: Learning by Doing (#1)
Thursday, November 27, 15:00-16:00 CET
A deep dive into improving NbS projects along 8 key criteria — with NL2120 and partners including IUCN, ResiRiver, and others.
NL2120 collaborates with IUCN NL and the Interreg project ResiRiver in this webinar. We will discuss how to assess and improve the quality of NbS projects, using the IUCN NbS standard and tailoring it to specific needs, such as by integrating quantitative metrics on biodiversity and cost/benefits.
After an introduction to the IUCN NbS standard and its relation to the NL2120 research and innovation programme, The Interreg project ResiRiver will give an update of their experience. ResiRiver has applied the IUCN framework to a range of NbS pilots (9) in large and small rivers in the Northwest European region. Their findings provide a firsthand experience on the effectiveness of this framework, which led to the development of a “light tool” to evaluate the results /effectiveness of proposed NbS measures in northwest European rivers.
Speakers include: Yvo Snoek, Ralph Schielen, Melanie Schulz (ResiRiver), Heleen van den Hombergh and Malia Gehrenbeck (IUCN NL).
This will not be a one-off theme: it forms part of a longer NL2120 webinar series discussing Dutch and international expertise on NbS, their quality and potential impacts.
