Creating tidal parks

Overview

Tidal parks designs serve a critical social function in providing open space for cities. These shoreline edges and river inlets restore tidal nature as a feature along urban waterfronts and riverbanks. Their gentle, sloping shorelines seed the conditions for wetland plants to take root, enhancing the natural environment and creating new habitat opportunities. They have the additional benefit of supporting visually diverse, interesting landscapes where water level fluctuations can become perceptible in an urban setting.

This concept contributes to the restoration of the estuarine ecosystem. More information on how to restore the estuarine ecosystem can be found here.
