At the EcoShape office in Amersfoort our community came together to officially say goodbye to Stefan Aarninkhof as Director of EcoShape. While Stefan’s successor, Arjan van der Weck has been instated as Director since March 6th 2024, it was not until July 11 we were able to all come together to celebrate and acknowledge the amazing work Stefan accomplished during his time as Director and his previous roles within earlier EcoShape programs.
Some highlights of the EcoShape consortium, with Stefan’s involvement:
- Completion of Building with Nature I
- Sand Motor – providing innovative, sandy solutions for coastal management and maintenance
- Houtribdijk – providing water management in the IJsselmeer area
- PhD programs – like Singapore (Multifunctional coastal protection)
- Award of funding for NL2120 which is financed through the National Growth Fund. The National Growth Fund is one of the largest partnerships in the world in the field of NBS.
- UN Water Conference Event: Showcasing the Power of NBS at the UN Water Conference and the launch of the Coalition for Mainstreaming NBS at the UN Water Conference on March 23, 2023.
- Start of EcoShape III – July 13th 2023 Consortium Agreement Signed
- New office in Amersfoort!
