The reinforcement of the Houtribdijk started in September.
The pilot section that has been on the south side of the Houtribdijk since the summer of 2014, will be handed over to Rijkswaterstaat in the spring of 2018.
Before that happens, researchers carry out one final test: a part of the stable body of sand is removed. With intensive measurements of the remaining part of the pilot section, the researchers expect to gain a better understanding of the development of the sand package. With that knowledge, future sandy reinforcements can be designed more accurately. The intervention is carried out by contractor ‘combination Houtribdijk’, which also carries out the reinforcement of the Houtribdijk.
