In our newsletter of January last we reported about the exploration of potential for Building with Nature initiatives in Brazil. This initiative started on 1 August 2018. The 8,000 kilometres of shoreline and the Amazon river offer possibilities for Building with Nature to potentially tackle coastal issues like erosion and sustainable harbour development.
We were able to identify several opportunities as well as stakeholders like the Brazilian government and universities. However, complex market conditions and governance aspects limit the possibilities for further development of these opportunities at this moment. Therefore the partners have decided to temporarily cease this Building with Nature initiative in Brazil.
