Overview
Secondary channels increase the flood conveyance capacity of rivers and support habitat development. They are constructed by profiling the channels through the land and by inserting specific flow- or ecology enhancing structures. Secondary channels offer opportunities to enhance the natural, recreational, and cultural value of the riverine landscape.
