As part of the conference ‘Climate change adaptation in the North Sea region’ on March 8th participants visited the Hondsbossche Dunes.
The occasion for the conference was the fact that the EU Interreg VB North Sea region projects Building with Nature and FAIR, both reached their halfway points. The participants of conference reflected on results achieved, and looked ahead to the future of the projects.
Dr. Todd Bridges of the US Army Corps of Engineers gave a keynote speech about ways of (nature based) flood protection in the United States. In the afternoon, knowledge was shared in various sessions about flood protection in the North Sea region and beyond.
An excursion to the Hondsbossche Dunes gave guests the opportunity to see examples of nature-based solutions with their own eyes. The Hondsbossche Dunes team of EcoShape made a short video impression of their field work to show the participants.
