The Global Mangrove Alliance has two new releases – The State of the Worlds Mangroves report 2022 and a data update to the Global Mangrove Watch platform.

The State of the Worlds Mangroves report 2022

September 21, 2022 – Today the Global Mangrove Alliance (GMA) released their annual report, The State of the World’s Mangroves 2022, a compilation of the most current information available on what we know about mangrove forests and what’s being done to reverse the downward trends impacting the coastal trees and the local communities who depend on them. Data update to the Global Mangrove Watch platform:

21, September 2022, Wageningen, The Netherlands, – The primary source of information on mangroves status and extent –used by scientific bodies, think tanks like the World Resources Institute, project developers and international and regional policymakers, including government bodies, and the UN –the Global Mangrove Watch platform (GMW), has been updated with the latest data to 2020. The State of Mangroves in the Western Indian Ocean:

July 2022 – The state of mangroves in the Western Indian Ocean report is the first report to quantify and map mangrove blue carbon, drivers of change, and restoration potential or mangroves in the region, using the latest and best globally available data. The report is based on an analysis of Global Mangrove Watch (GMW).
