21, September 2022, Wageningen, The Netherlands, – The primary source of information on mangroves status and extent –used by scientific bodies, think tanks like the World Resources Institute, project developers and international and regional policymakers, including government bodies, and the UN –the Global Mangrove Watch platform (GMW), has been updated with the latest data to 2020. July 2022 – The state of mangroves in the Western Indian Ocean report is the first report to quantify and map mangrove blue carbon, drivers of change, and restoration potential or mangroves in the region, using the latest and best globally available data. The report is based on an analysis of Global Mangrove Watch (GMW).
