EcoShape: First Steps of the Innovation Ecosystem

On 31 March EcoShape announced its new formula in a webinar which was attended by more than 100 attendees (Next Steps Webinar Content – EcoShape). After having realised 14 physical pilot projects and programmes between 2014 and 2020, EcoShape will continue as the Building with Nature innovation ecosystem. As in any ecosystem, various organisations and individuals work together in the BwN ecosystem to achieve a common ambition which they cannot achieve alone.

The joint ambition is to make a significant contribution to the sustainable development goals (SDG’s) of the United Nations, by realising Building with Nature projects on a landscape scale, and to facilitate everything that is needed to achieve that ambition.

Tables
The organisations that are part of the ecosystem work together in tables. Four tables have been initiated since March:

  • Beneficial use of sediments;
  • Building with Nature Asia;
  • Building with Nature in Cities;
  • Building with Nature in Africa.

Progress of the various tables varies from just initiated, via starting up projects and programmes to working on actual projects.

On our website you can find an overview of the various tables, what the mission of the various tables is and what the status of their activities is on our website. This part of our website is still under construction so don’t be disappointed if you don’t find what you hoped to find yet, you can always contact the Table lead for more information.

Community

In the webinar on 31 March, also the start was announced of the Building with Nature community for individuals interested in bringing the concept of Building with Nature further. This community is supported by a group on LinkedIn (@EcoShape – Building with Nature). Since 31 March more than 100 new professionals and students from all over the world have joined the community. The community will be important for knowledge dissemination, discussion, exchange of views and ideation.

We will keep you updated on our progress and the results achieved via our LinkedIn group, the website and our newsletter!
