Initiation
During a multidisciplinary workshop initiated by RWS and facilitated by EcoShape, the problem of coastal erosion at Onrustpolder was examined and solutions were proposed. The most promising design was found to be a sand engine nourishment in the Onrust channel that would limit flow through the tidal channel, thereby allowing the Onrust shoal to move landwards, and provide sediment to the Onrust coast in the short term.
